Stripe, the global payment infrastructure giant, has rolled out a new instant payout feature for freelancers and creators worldwide, using USDC stablecoins on blockchain networks like Solana and Polygon. The feature is aimed at solving the long-standing problem of delayed cross-border payments and high banking fees.
With this update, freelancers on platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, and even Shopify storefronts can now receive payments instantly in crypto, which they can then convert to local currency via partnered wallets. Stripe’s integration also includes fraud checks, transaction monitoring, and optional fiat withdrawal rails.
The move is part of Stripe’s broader strategy to expand financial inclusion and support the global creator economy through modern, decentralized payment rails.
Key Features:
- Instant payments via USDC
- Support for Solana, Polygon, and Ethereum L2s
- Real-time transaction confirmation
- Direct wallet integration for freelancers
Why It Matters:
Stripe’s stablecoin support could significantly reduce payout times from days to seconds — potentially disrupting traditional remittance and freelance payment ecosystems.
