Tesla has officially introduced the long-awaited Model 2, a compact electric vehicle (EV) starting at $25,000, designed to make electric mobility accessible to the global middle class. The Model 2 is expected to enter production later this year at Tesla’s Gigafactories in Berlin, Texas, and Shanghai.
Built on a new, cost-optimized platform, the Model 2 offers a 250-mile range, fast-charging capability, and a stripped-down but modern interior powered by Tesla’s AI-driven Autopilot Lite. Its smaller footprint is aimed at dense urban markets like Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
With this launch, Tesla hopes to compete directly with budget EVs from BYD, VW, and new Indian and Chinese players—potentially accelerating the shift to fully electric transport globally.
